TWMP: Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder and the general election

On Sunday’s episode of This Week in Missouri Politics, host Scott Faughn continues his look at the Republican gubernatorial candidates with Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder. Kinder speaks about his role as a frontrunner of a race instead of an underdog, and about the concerns he’s hearing from voters on the campaign trail. They also discuss his increased fundraising efforts over the past month. They also discuss the University of Missouri’s Board of Curators, his wish to reach voters on both sides of the issues, and his support for Donald Trump.

“He was not my first vote, my second vote or my third vote,” Kinder says. “He is the choice of Republican voters across the country and the state of Missouri.”

He also discusses how he will fight what he sees as attacks from the federal government, in terms of the bathroom decree and a ruling on guns.

On the opinion maker panel, Mike Kelley of the Kelley Group, Mindy Mazur of GPS Impact, Kinder’s campaign manager Pam Dixon, and Ferguson Mayor James Knowles talk about Kinder’s likely nomination, whether or not Kinder can beat Attorney General Chris Koster in the general, and both of their campaign strategies in the national scope.

TWMP will air at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Louis area on ABC 30 KDNL and in mid-Missouri on KRCG at 6:00 a.m. The show is available online after noon at twmp.tv.
