LG PAC is anti-Brunner, treasurer says

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — John Brunner “is not a true conservative” and that’s why LG PAC has aired tv advertisements attacking the Republican candidate for governor, the committee’s treasurer Hank Monsees said when reached by phone.

“We’re for electing a real conservative to the governorship. In my opinion Brunner isn’t in that list,” Monsees said. “We aren’t supporting any particular candidate.”

Monsees said he’s “for good government and I’m for conservatives,” and that’s why he started the committee.

LG PAC has spent millions of dollars to air ads statewide attacking Brunner over his tax records.

The organization has been mired in secrecy since it was formed last month and much speculation has centered around who the committee might be backing. Reports surfaced over the weekend that Monsees could be associated with the Eric Greitens campaign after images showed him making phone calls at the campaign’s Kansas City headquarters.

Last year, Greitens accused Brunner of being a “weasel” over ads aired by an anti-Gretiens ad that was aired by a pac run by a former Brunner staffer.

Monsees said he was in a bad cell area and hung up before more questions could be asked.
