Release: House Speaker Pro Tem Denny Hoskins Honored with the 2016 County Advocate Award

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The County Commissioners Association of Missouri, one of the state’s leading county advocacy groups, recently announced that six state legislators would be honored by the association for their commitment to improving county government operations. State Rep. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, is among those six legislators, and received his County Advocate Award at a reception hosted by the Johnson and Pettis county commissions at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, in the commission room at the Johnson County Courthouse.

HB 2140, sponsored by Rep. Hoskins this year, was a main factor in his nomination for the award. The bill extends the deadline for counties to place the motor vehicle/marine sales tax titling “fix” to the November 2018 general election.

“I am proud to stand in defense of our counties and local governments. The thirty-three counties that still need to place the issue on the ballot are making an effort to protect local auto and marine dealers, and HB 2140 gives them an additional two years to accomplish this. It’s important that as state legislators we work with the counties to protect local businesses, and support local government,” said Hoskins, R-Warrensburg.
