TWMP: Catherine Hanaway and the SD23 GOP primary

On Sunday’s episode of This Week in Missouri Politics, host Scott Faughn speaks with former House Speaker Catherine Hanaway on the home stretch of the Republican GOP primary for governor. They talk about tensions between African-Americans and the police, steps she would take to make laws more strict for both people who target police and police who exceed their authority, and how her experience as a prosecutor can help her achieve those ends. The two also discuss the large amount of money in the governor’s race, including her own fundraising from large donor, and how she’ll beat the three other candidates in the state.

The first guests include the 23rd Senate District Republican primary candidates Rep. Anne Zerr, business owner Bill Eigel and Judge Mike Carter who discuss why they would be the best person for the people of St. Charles to send to Jefferson City. They discuss why they’re running for state Senate, and what they would do to kickstart the state’s economy. The extended debate can be found at TWMP Overtime at twmp.tv Sunday afternoon.

The opinion maker panel, consisting of former Rep. Carl Bearden, former Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Schelp, political dynamo Jane Dueker and Rep. Tracy McCreery, D-St. Louis, speak about Hanaway’s chances to win the election and how she matches up against Democratic nominee Chris Koster. They talk about the Republican National Convention, and whether or not Hillary Clinton can withstand Donald Trump. The extended debate can also be found on TWMP Overtime at twmp.tv Sunday afternoon.

TWMP will air at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Louis area on ABC 30 KDNL and in mid-Missouri on KRCG at 6:00 a.m. The show is available online after noon at twmp.tv.
