COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sen. Kurt Schaefer has been named Senator of the Year by the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association, his campaign for attorney general announced Thursday.
Running for the top law enforcement position in the state, this is Schaefer’s second time receiving the award. Schaefer previously received the award in 2012.
“It has always been a privilege to work alongside law enforcement, both as a prosecutor and as a legislator to keep dangerous criminals off our streets,” Schaefer said. “In this moment when law enforcement is under attack by cowards, I am honored to continue standing alongside Missouri’s Sheriffs, their departments, and their law enforcement colleagues as they protect and serve our citizens and property.”
In a letter notifying Schaefer that he had received the award, the associaiton said, “We are excited that you have been selected in recognition of your support of Missouri law enforcement in general and the Office of Sheriff in particular.”
