Hanaway criticizes Greitens for skipping debate

ST. LOUIS — Catherine Hanaway criticized fellow Republican candidate for governor Eric Greitens for failing to show up to the final debate before the Aug. 2 primary election.

The debate will air Sunday on This Week in Missouri Politics.

“Eric should man up and show up to the This Week in Missouri Politics debate,” Hanaway said.  “He has missed most of the debates and forums that we’ve had, he refuses to take tough questions from voters; and his unwillingness to have an unscripted encounter with voters show that he is arrogant enough to believe that out of state money can fool Missouri voters. Apparently, Greitens is only willing to speak to voters in slickly produced advertisements.”

Hanaway’s campaign pointed out that she has not missed a single debate.

While the other candidates were debating Friday, Greitens held a press conference outside Missouri Democratic Party headquarters in Jefferson City.

Hanaway has become more critical of Greitens in the final week of the campaign. Earlier in the week, she released an ad calling him, “dangerously liberal.”
