Beck replaces Montecillo on ballot in 92nd district

AFFTON, Mo. – The 92nd Legislative Committee chose Affton school board director Doug Beck to replace Rep. Genise Montecillo on the ballot after she withdrew this summer.

Beck was the only candidate to attend and speak at the meeting Thursday evening and was approved by acclamation.

“I believe in giving back to the community in which I live,” Beck said. “My work ethic, leadership ability, experience in public education and belief in responsible government makes me an ideal choice to represent the people of the 92nd District.”

Montecillo left her seat to pursue a private education position but will remain in the legislature through the end of her term.

Beck will face Republican Daniel Bogle in the general election.

In his work on the Affton school board, Beck has been involved in efforts to expand early childhood education, including the building of an early childhood center.

He has also been a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562 for more than 30 years.

Beck is married, has two children and a grandchild.
