Cattlemen make statewide endorsements

Koster adds to agriculture endorsements

SEDALIA, Mo. — The Missouri Cattlemen’s Association used the Missouri State Fair as a venue to endorse candidates for statewide office, including Attorney General Chris Koster for governor.

Koster is the only Democrat to receive their endorsement. It joins his other agriculture endorsements from the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Corn Growers Association and the Missouri Soybean Association.

“Chris has proven time and again that he will work with and fight for Missouri’s farm and ranch families that we proudly represent,” said MCA President Keith Stevens.

To secure an endorsement from the cattlemen’s association, a candidate must receive 80 percent approval from the board of directors.

In the other statewide races, the cattlemen endorsed the Republican candidate. That included Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, for lieutenant governor (who himself owns a cow-calf operation), law professor Josh Hawley for attorney general and Jay Ashcroft for secretary of state.

The endorsed candidates spent some time manning the grill at the state fair.
