The association identified Rowden’s leadership on law enforcement issues as a reason for the endorsement.

“Caleb has worked with our leadership for the last few years to identify areas where the state can come alongside our officers in our ongoing quest to make this community safe for everyone who calls it home,” said Dale Roberts, executive director of the union. “We believe Mid-Missouri needs a senator who is proactive in addressing the public safety needs of this community, and we believe Caleb is the right man for the job.”

The group cited Rowden’s work on programs to put more police officers on Columbia streets. They also praised his work on specifying when a police officer can be fired.

“I am truly honored to have the backing of Mid-Missouri’s law enforcement community,” Rowden said in a statement. “I will fight every day as Mid-Missouri’s next State Senator to find ways to partner with our local police officers to ensure they have every resource available to them to make Columbia safe and secure, both now and in the future.”
