Watson appointed to Capitol Commission

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Trent Watson to the Capitol Commission on Friday.

Watson served as the policy director for the State Senate Majority Caucus in 2005 and as the chief of staff for state Sen. Jon Dolan from 2002 to 2004. He currently owns Governmental Consulting Inc., in Jefferson City, and represents corporations, small businesses, and municipal and county governments.

“It is an honor to be appointed by the Governor to the Capitol Commission,” Watson said. “I have worked in this amazing building for years and it is a true honor to be on the commission that is charged with its promotion and preservation. I look forward to working with the hard-working and knowledgeable members of the Commission as we look toward the Capitol’s centennial and much-needed conservation and preservation.”
The commission’s duties include the care of more than 120 pieces of art inside and around the capitol. Included are murals, paintings, tapestries, sculptures, and stained glass windows. Also included are the carvings, sculptures, fountains, and monuments found outside the building.

The commission is also responsible for the selection and placement of any new art pieces.

Watson’s appointed term will end in April 2018.
