JEFFERSON CITY – Jason Kander is refusing to say if he will urge Senate Democrats to support a compromise offered by U.S. Senator Roy Blunt for funding to combat the Zika virus.  Senate Democrats rejected the compromise for the third time this week.

For months, Senator Blunt has worked with senators in both parties to provide funding to help address this public health emergency.  Now, a compromise is within reach if Senate Democrats will also reach across the aisle and support Senator Blunt’s plan.

“Jason Kander has been silent on Senator Roy Blunt’s plan and has not revealed if he will urge Senate Democrats to support it,” said Rich Chrismer, a communications advisor to the Missouri Republican Party.  “While Jason Kander has been talking about process and politics, Senator Blunt has been working with members in both parties to reach an agreement to address this public health emergency.  The question for Jason Kander is whether he will choose partisan obstruction over a real compromise plan offered by Senator Blunt to address this public health emergency.”
