Curtis ends business relationship with Raise Your Hand for Kids

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Rep. Courtney Allen Curtis has ended his business relationship with Raise Your Hand for Kids, a group campaigning for Amendment 3, because it may give the appearance of impropriety.
Earlier this month, the Missouri Times reported that  Curtis’ plan to work in a paid position with the committee could be illegal after Rep. Shamed Dogan’s bill prohibiting candidates from working as paid political consultants went into effect last month.
Curtis gave the Missouri Times the following statement:
Due to a recent change in law and in order to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, Raise Your Hand for Kids and I ended our business relationship effective August 27th. I don’t want my work with this tremendous organization to be a distraction to securing $300 million in new annual investments dedicated to early childhood health and education in our state. I will, however, remain an unyielding advocate for improving the lives of children throughout the state of Missouri in my capacity as a state legislator.
