FORT RUCKER, Ala. – 2nd Lt. Samuel Diehl, 21, of St. Louis, Mo. passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home on post. He was attending flight school at Fort Rucker.
Diehl is former House Speaker John Diehl’s oldest son.

John Diehl was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2008, serving from January 2009 until May 2015. While speaker, Diehl oversaw the passage of the first state tax cut in recent history.
