Release: Missouri Soybean Association Endorses Hawley for Attorney General

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jefferson City, Mo. – The Missouri Soybean Association board of directors has voted to endorse Josh Hawley for attorney general in next week’s election.

“Josh Hawley has shown a commitment to agriculture and that he supports our state’s top industry,” said Matt McCrate, Missouri Soybean Association president and a soybean farmer from Cape Girardeau County. “We look toward him to fight burdensome regulations on agriculture as Missouri’s next attorney general.”

The farmer leaders of the Missouri Soybean Association looked toward Hawley’s ties to agriculture and his vision for engaging with the agriculture industry in making their endorsement. Hawley’s commitments to fighting over-regulation and keeping close watch on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operation of the Mississippi and Missouri river systems as Missouri’s attorney general were key to gaining the farmers’ endorsement.

Hawley also assured the Association’s board of directors of his plans for providing strong counsel to Missouri’s volunteer-led boards and commissions.

Members of the Missouri Soybean Association board of directors met with Hawley in early September. Farmer leaders met with Hawley again in mid-October and participated in a conference call with the candidate prior to making their endorsement decision.
