Greitens meets with Nixon as part of transition

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Jay Nixon met with Gov.-elect Eric Greitens Thursday morning to congratulate him on his victory and speak with him about the transition to a new administration. Nixon said he wanted the transition to be seamless and cooperative.

“We had an open, constructive discussion, and I provided him with my perspective as a two-term Governor and as someone who has been in public service to the state for 30 years,” Nixon said in a statement. “I am confident that Gov.-elect Greitens and his team have the same goal as I and my administration have: to ensure that we have a transition that best serves the six million people of Missouri.”

Greitens said that he thanked Nixon for his service to the state and reiterated Nixon’s calls for a smooth changeover of power.

“I look forward to his assistance during the transition,” Gov.-elect Greitens said. “The most important thing we can do is to ensure a smooth transition so our government continues to serve the people of Missouri well.”
