Former State Rep. Torpey joins Andy Blunt’s lobbying firm

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Statehouse Strategies LLC is adding a new member to their staff: former House Representative and lobbyist Noel Torpey.

Torpey’s decision to join the lobbying firm came roughly a week after the November election.

“They’re a great firm, and it’s just a natural fit,” Torpey said. “Working with Andy (Blunt) and Jay (Reichard) has always been great; I’ve always had a wonderful relationship there, so that’s why I think the fit makes sense.”

The Missouri-based consulting firm was first started by Andy Blunt, the son and campaign manager of U.S. Senator Roy Blunt.

Their clientele consists of several major organizations, including the University of Missouri, Ameren Missouri, the Missouri Auto Dealers Association, the Missouri Hospital Association, and the Missouri Cable Telecommunications Association.

Torpey served two terms as a Republican representative from Independence, and was elected for a third before leaving office back in 2014. He vacated his seat in order to become the executive director for the Fair Energy Rate Action Fund, an organization that advocates for energy issues on behalf of consumers.

When the organization’s funding left, Torpey took on clients of his own as a lobbyist, which has been his job since.

Torpey says that he looks forward to the challenges his new role with Statehouse Strategies will bring.

“When I’m Jeff City, I want to be as busy possible, so I look forward to it,” he said.
