Gov.-elect Greitens’ wife robbed at gunpoint

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov.-elect Eric Greitens says his wife, Sheena Greitens, has been robbed at gunpoint.

Greitens says the future First Lady was robbed in a location not far from their home in Central West End of St. Louis.

St. Louis police say Sheena Greitens was parked outside of a restaurant on West Pine shortly after 6 p.m. when a suspect opened the car door, pointed a gun at her and demanded her property.

The suspects fled the scene with her laptop and cell phone.

Police managed to locate the suspects’ vehicle, and following a short pursuit, they took three suspects into custody. Police have only identified those suspects as three males, ages 14, 15, and 19.

The future governor issued a statement on his Facebook page on Monday night.

He says she is shaken, but safe, and that the incident has only strengthened his resolve to increase public safety.

The newly-elected Republican governor is set to take office in January, and his wife and two children plan to move to Jefferson City.

Greitens’ campaign manager Austin Chambers tweeted later, saying that Vice President-Elect Mike Pence and his wife called the Greitens family to offer their prayers and support.

A news conference has been scheduled in St. Louis at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in regards to the robbery.
