JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The state’s largest conservation organization is turning to a different method of spreading their message.
The Conservation Federation of Missouri (CFM) is now offering a podcast, using the same name as the organization’s magazine, Conservation Federation. CFM’s Executive Director Brandon Butler is the host of the podcast. He says that CFM is always looking for as many diverse ways to spread the message of conservation issues, and podcasting is their latest endeavor.
“To be able to record leading conservationists and the people dealing with conservation issues, and to be able to put those recordings on our website, and make them available for anyone to download or stream at any time, it’s a great tool for us to spread the message,” Butler said. “It really becomes just a conversation between two people.”
He says the CFM plans to release new episodes at least once a month.
The organization’s first episode was recorded on Election Day, back in November. It featured Gov. Jay Nixon as the first guest. He and Butler spoke on a variety of conservation issues in the hour-long episode.
“He truly is phenomenal for our issues. He really does care about conservation,” Butler said.
CFM plans to host more conservation and political leaders in the future. The next episode will feature Collin O’Mara, the CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. Butler says they hope to have Sarah Parker Pauley, the new director for Missouri Department of Conservation on the January episode.
“I hope to be able to sit down with Gov. Eric Greitens soon to discuss his vision for the future of conservation and natural resources,” Butler said. “After that, it’ll be conservation leaders and elected officials from across Missouri.”
