Capitol Commission kicks off centennial with Capstone reception

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri State Capitol is turning 100 this year, and the Missouri State Capitol Commission is looking to celebrate.Centennial

As legislators return to the statehouse for the first day of the legislative session, the commission will commemorate the laying of the building’s capstone in 1917 with a reception.

The event is scheduled to take place in the third floor rotunda on Wednesday evening.

It will feature a number of activities and exhibits from the State Archives, State Historical Society, and the State Museum, and a specially-designed cake you won’t want to miss.

Dana Miller of the Capitol Commission said the event will also feature a photo
booth with a green screen, allowing people to pose for a photo on the Capitol dome.

Miller also said they’ll be giving away centennial and Capitol-themed items as well.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will last from 4 to 6 p.m.
