Fitzpatrick announces new ‘Modernize Missouri’ initiative

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Rep. Scott Fitzpatrick, R-Shell Knob, is looking for input on how to move the Show Me State forward.

To aid in his endeavor, he announced the “Modernize Missouri” initiative, which will serve as a forum for Missouri citizens to submit and communicate their ideas on how the state government can work better.

He hopes the initiative will bring new ideas on how to cut down the inefficiencies in state government and also bring new innovations to Missouri’s government.

“The growth in federally mandated state spending continues to increase the size of state government and threaten strategic investments in Missouri’s future. It’s time to modernize Missouri state government to do more with less through technology, innovation, and a little more Missouri common sense,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’m inviting all Missourians to join our effort to help Modernize Missouri by submitting their ideas today on how they think we can reduce the size of government and release the potential of our great state.”

The website www.ModernizeMO.com features a carousel of submissions, with a few suggestions already listed, including a call for labor laws, Medicaid reform, and the allowance of Uber and Lyft operations in the state.

Below that, a form appears, asking for a name and location, along with a field in which citizens can submit their ideas. There is a limit on how much a person can type, though, as it allows for 500 characters of less.

Missourians can also submit ideas on Facebook and Twitter by using the hashtag #ModernizeMO.
