Women’s Policy Network holds second year of mentor program

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Women’s Policy Network of Missouri, a non-partisan and non-profit group formed to help women who are looking to get their foot in the door of politics by connecting them to other women professionals already in the field, is once again offering their Mentor Pairing Program at the Capitol. The sign up for this program will be open until Feb. 24 at 5:00 p.m. This program is designed to help those female interns and newcomers in politics to connect with veterans of the arena to act as their mentors.

Christine Page, the director of public affairs for Missouri American Water, and a group of other women with ties to the Capitol, formed the group in January 2016 with the hopes of getting more women involved in politics and to help those women who are already in the Capitol or beyond find more sturdy footing.

Christine Page, who was named in the 30 Women Changing Politics, has been involved in politics for over a decade and has been at Missouri American Water for three years.

Last year’s Mentor Pairing Program was met with great success with most individuals involved getting an upwards of two mentors. All those involved are encouraged to not only mentor, but to also be mentored. The program looks “to support and empower women in politics and public policy.”

This new and influential group was only formulated last year, but already has a group of individuals who are dedicated to supplying assistance, guidance, and connections to women to find their passion in politics. Members include Ali Appleton, Leanna Chilton, Linda Rallo, Ellie Glenn, Jennae Neustadt, Jessica Pabst, and Monica Combest, who were all part of the group’s launch committee and have continued in their pursuit of assisting women in the Capitol.
