Dept. of Revenue turns over documents to Auditor’s Office

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Just a day after receiving a subpoena issued by State Auditor Nicole Galloway, the Department of Revenue has turned over documents requested by her office.

According to a release from the Auditor’s Office, the department delivered a stack of documents to them Thursday afternoon.

“After weeks of my staff requesting the information and after taking the unprecedented step of issuing a subpoena, my office has received the Department of Revenue’s response. I am hopeful that in the future the issuance of a subpoena will not be necessary for my office to do its job protecting taxpayers,” Galloway said.

Galloway’s office had requested the documents as part of their ongoing budget integrity series, with the intent of making sure that Missourians are receiving their tax returns within the 45-day timeline, or if not, they are paid the interest owed.

The Auditor’s Office is currently reviewing the documents.
