Contreras will be focused in the firm’s downtown Kansas City office, but he will often work with state legislators and the Missouri government.

“We are very pleased to have Pat… join the team at McCownGordon,” McCownGordon COO Ramin Cherafat said in a statement. “The firm is focused on growth and opportunity for our associates, our clients and our partners.” He went on to say Contreras was an “experienced professional” and “a perfect fit for our growing team and our expanding roster of clients.”

Contreras lost to former State Rep. Judy Baker in the Democratic primary in August, despite an impressive resume as a foreign services officer for the U.S. State Department in Mexico and Pakistan during both the Bush and Obama Administrations. He also made history in Missouri politics by becoming the first Hispanic candidate from a major party to run for statewide office.
