Mallinckrodt celebrates opening of new expansion with Senators Nasheed and Walsh on hand

ST. LOUIS – State Senators Gina Walsh and Jamilah Nasheed were on hand this week to celebrate the opening of a new production expansion for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.

The company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for the latest piece of the company’s three-year, $55 million investment in its St. Louis manufacturing plant.

The senators joined Mallinckrodt’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Trudeau, along with members of the company’s leadership team and plant staff, as well as Mike Downing, Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Tabitha Harwell, Investor Relations Executive, St. Louis Regional Chamber of Commerce, all of whom participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Trudeau spoke of Mallinckrodt’s 150-year history, saying the St. Louis plant had a long and proud history of commitment to patients.

“As we all know, this company was founded at this very location back in 1867. The new building addition is an important milestone in this plant’s transformation and will support our long-term growth, agility, and efficiency,” Trudeau said. “Major investments like this will help us continue to bring critical treatments to the millions of patients we serve every day.”

Sen. Nasheed also spoke, telling the group that it was a pleasure to be there and thanking the Mallinckrodt team for continuing to build in St. Louis and providing employment opportunities.

The new building addition will streamline and modernize the company’s complex manufacturing processes by increasing efficiencies, reducing waste and energy costs, and enhancing workplace and environmental safety.
