McCaskill names David Kirby as campaign manager

Kirby – a Washington University law graduate who previously worked for McCaskill – will shepherd her reelection effort

MISSOURI – Senator Claire McCaskill has named David Kirby as her campaign manager for her 2018 reelection campaign.

Kirby previously worked for Ken Salazar’s successful Colorado Senate campaign in 2004, before joining McCaskill’s 2006 Senate campaign. He earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Kirby served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Missouri Attorney General’s office. Most recently, Kirby practiced law with Lewis Rice in the firm’s St. Louis and Jefferson City offices.

“As someone who’s raising a family in Missouri, I know that folks here value a Senator who shows up and listens to people in every part of our state, no matter whether they agree with her or not,” Kirby said. “Claire is an independent voice who’s proven she’ll work with anyone to get results for our state – and will stand up to anyone to fight for us. And I’m proud to be a part of her team.”

Kirby is joined by Erika Brees who was named Finance Director for McCaskill for Missouri earlier this year. McCaskill’s campaign has shattered fundraising records this year, raising more than $3.1 million in April, May, and June – more than any previous Missouri U.S. Senator or U.S. Senate candidate during any quarter of an off-year. More than 10,000 Missourians who never previously donated to McCaskill have contributed to her in 2017, and McCaskill’s campaign has more than $5.1 million cash-on-hand.

McCaskill is a former prosecutor and Missouri State Auditor who was recently ranked by a conservative news outlet as one of the hardest-working U.S. Senators. She recently completed another tour of public town halls across Missouri.
