Richard announces Heidi Kolkmeyer as new Chief of Staff

JEFFERSON CITY— Senate President Pro Tem Ron Richard, R-Joplin, announced today the promotion of Heidi Kolkmeyer, who currently serves as the Majority Caucus senior policy director, as his new chief of staff. She will replace current chief of staff Dusty Schnieders when he moves on to a new position with the University of Missouri System.

“Heidi is one of the hardest working people in the State Capitol,” said Richard. “She has spent her career building relationships on both sides of the aisle and understanding policy issues from every angle. Heidi is very capable and ready to take over the duties of chief of staff, and I’m proud to have her on our team.”

Kolkmeyer has spent the past 14 years working in the Missouri General Assembly, first as an intern and legislative assistant for former Sen. Delbert Scott. Kolkmeyer became an expert in transportation policy while working as the Senate Transportation Committee secretary for seven years under the chairmanship of former Sen. Bill Stouffer.

“As chief of staff to the President Pro Tem, my goal is to help Sen. Richard create new economic development opportunities and attract new jobs to the Show-Me State through impactful legislation,” said Kolkmeyer. “Another goal is to help all of our senators move their priorities forward, and I’m excited for this new challenge.”

In addition to serving as Sen. Richard’s chief of staff, Kolkmeyer also serves on the governor’s Boards and Commissions Task Force, which was charged with evaluating the purpose and necessity of each existing board and commission, as well as determining the cost-effectiveness of the state’s existing system. The task force plans to release the results of its work next week.

Kolkmeyer will begin her duties in the new position on Nov. 1, 2017.
