Missouri Association of Manufacturers announces the 2017 MMLA Recipients

2017 Made in Missouri Leadership Awards Recipients

The Missouri Association of Manufacturers (MAM) announced the winners of the 2017 Made in Missouri Leadership Awards at the annual event, held in September in St. Louis. “The Made in Missouri Leadership Awards Program was developed to honor manufacturing companies and individual leaders that are shaping the future of global manufacturing. The MMLA program recognizes Missouri manufacturers as leaders in all segments of manufacturing,” stated Kim Inman, MAM CEO.

  • SKILLSOURCE Initiative Award – MFG Inc. is a coalition of several companies who are taking the initiative to address the manufacturing skills gap and workforce shortage. They are developing a systematic organizational capability to identify, shape, and nurture new-growth initiatives. These companies united together to find a solution, developed a plan, sought financing and created a unique partnership to foster new growth, provide support to microenterprise training programs, workforce and economic development for long-term initiatives.   • Curt McCoy with MSW Inc. received MAMbassador of the Year Award. This award was given to McCoy for his dedication to growing MAM and developing programs which directly affect manufacturing members and best represents the mission and values of the Missouri Association of Manufacturers.
  • Milbank Manufacturing received the Production Technologies Award for adopting technologies such as sensor networks, advanced materials, process automation platforms, advanced robotics and additive / 3D printing for production applications. Milbank Manufacturing has also contributed positively to improving efficiency, increasing responsiveness and reducing costs.
  • NorthStar Battery received the Engineering, Innovation & Design Award, for creating a culture of innovation, with the development of their Northstar ACE™, an IoT solution for energy storage, end to end control of global installations and energy storage management at every stage of the battery life cycle.
  • Nexmatix took home the New Product Excellence Award – Nexmatix solution unlocks the hidden potential of compressed air systems by providing critical data that improves the cost and effective capacity of 20-40%. Data is collected and analyzed by Nexmatix proprietary hardware and software that houses a unique algorithm that allows for real-time monitoring, data streaming, cloud storage and detailed analytics for improving efficiencies of pneumatic systems and manage energy bills.
  • Jim Fleming with Tacony received the Manufacturing Executive of the Year Award for his tenacity for accomplishing the impossible. His uncanny ideas for development, issue resolution and the many accomplishments he has made in Missouri’s manufacturing industry. With expansions from 10 employees to 110, expanding floor space from 50,000 sq. ft. to 200,000 sq. ft., new concepts like “Supply Velocity”, an innovative program that attacks warehousing, offices and shop floors for non-value added activities and implementation of industry-specific software “Epicor”, Flemming has made Tacony’s business development and implementation a success.
  • Ranken Technical College received the Apprenticeship Program Excellence Award. This award celebrates an apprenticeship program’s outstanding contribution to the workplace and to the manufacturing industry, involving exceptional progress in both skills development and studies. Ranken Technical College demonstrates inspirational qualities, offer apprentices a solid foundation of best practices and operations, and is committed to apprentices achieving the best possible results within their chosen framework and long-term commitment to their personal and professional development and progression through learning.
  • Wiese USA received the Outstanding Member Benefit Award for their development of a unique savings program to support MAM and benefit MAM Members. As one of the largest material handling equipment companies in the Midwest and Mid South, Wiese developed an exclusive benefits program that offers extensive discounts on new equipment purchases, rentals, and labor.
  • Cox HealthPlans took home the Outstanding Member Program Award for playing a critical role in the development of an affordable and sustainable healthcare plan for Missouri manufacturers and MAM members. With the ever-changing laws and regulations of the ACA, this is a difficult time for most manufacturers. This award recognizes the commitment and needs of Missouri manufacturing having affordable healthcare.
  • US Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was awarded the Alliance Partner of the Year, recognizing an outstanding union and support for MAM shown by another organization. This alliance is mutually beneficial between organizations, but this organization has consistently proven their ongoing support of MAM. By working together, our alliance is making the manufacturing industry stronger.
  • Holloway America received the Member Momentum Award due to their executive team demonstrating a commitment to continued growth while maintaining a commitment to excellence in quality throughout the business. Holloway America continues to demonstrate creative and innovative ways of doing business while expanding their operations.
  • Dan Stroot with The Boeing Company received the MAMStrong Award for demonstrating a consistent, ongoing dedication and commitment to the advancement and growth of Missouri Association of Manufacturers. Stroot joined the MAM Board of Directors in 2016 and has already impacted MAM and member programs in numerous ways. His insight into the needs of all manufacturers regardless of size is remarkable and his ongoing dedication to uniting manufacturers is commended. Stroot has focused on representing the interests of manufacturers across Missouri and plays a vital role in making us MAM Strong.
  • SRC Holdings Corporation received the Member of the Year Award – This award recognizes a member for taking an involved role in the continued growth and support of the Missouri Association of Manufacturers. SRC has played an interactive role in numerous aspects of the organization, business, events, education, resources and other important components. By working with our staff, Board of Directors and other members, SRC has shown their dedication to improving the manufacturing industry in Missouri.
