Sen. Dan Hegeman plans re-election kickoff with grassroots event

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, Sen. Dan Hegeman is kicking off his 2018 reelection campaign with supporters and grassroots leaders from across northwest Missouri. Residents throughout Senate District 12 are encouraged to attend in support of the Senator.

“Ever since I was first sworn in as Senator for the people of Northwest Missouri, I have been putting their interests and the interests of our communities first,” said Hegeman, “I am honored to have been entrusted with their faith so far, and have labored every day to make sure they are heard in our Capitol. I humbly ask the people to once again put their faith in me and to lend me their support as we renew our fight to have a commonsense conservative voice in the Senate.”

The event features a host committee comprised of state representatives and county GOP chairs from across the district, displaying support for the Senator from across the region.

Senator Hegeman has been a farmer all of his life and part owner of a six-generation family-owned farm in Andrew County. Thanks to his contribution to agriculture, he was the recipient of the Missouri Farm Bureau’s Friend of Agriculture Award. Before serving as Senator, he was a Representative for Atchison, Holt, Andrew, Gentry, and DeKalb counties.

Over the years, Sen. Hegeman has cultivated strong ties to the area through his community involvement, which includes serving as president of the Second Harvest Regional Food Bank Board of Directors. In addition, Sen. Hegeman serves on the Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation Board, the Nodaway County Economic Development Board and the Maryville Industrial Development Council Board. He is the former board president of the Maryville Chamber of Commerce.

“It has always been an honor and a privilege to serve the great people of Missouri. I have lived and worked in the district nearly all of my life, I even graduated from Savannah High School from right in the district. I have been so fortunate to be able to serve the people here,” said Hegeman. “My experiences have always equipped me to represent the district. I know the spirit of Missouri; it is one of working families, traditional values, hard work, and patriotism. We need to respect the principles and values which have made us strong.”

In his first three years, Senator Hegeman has been the primary sponsor of nine bills which have become law. These bills have ranged on a variety of topics, including a major reform of the State’s pension systems, supporting our small businesses by making sure the State has a consistent minimum wage, and several reforms to help improve healthcare outcomes and restore local control. This past session he was appointed as the Chairman of the Senate Local Government and Elections committee, and was selected to serve on the influential Senate Appropriations committee. He was also elected by his Republican colleagues to serve as the Senate Republican Caucus Chairman.

Hegeman has chosen Axiom Strategies to serve as the general consultant for his campaign.
