MoDOT receives clean audit

JEFFERSON CITY – For the 18th consecutive year, the Missouri Department of Transportation has received an unmodified, or clean opinion from its independent auditors.

The good news was delivered to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission at its meeting this month in St. Louis.

MoDOT Financial Services Director Brenda Morris said the clean audit reflects sound financial reporting.

The accounting firm RubinBrown conducted the audit and their opinion was included in the department’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for Fiscal Year 2017, which was accepted by the Commission.

According to Chief Financial Officer Roberta Broeker, a CAFR goes beyond the financial reporting that is required by statute to demonstrate MoDOT’s commitment to a high standard of public accountability.

Commissioner Tom Waters commended the audit staff, calling it “fantastic news.”
