RELEASE: NARAL Condemns Greitens’ Attack on Birth Control Access

Playing Politics With Our Healthcare, Greitens’ Move Could Undermine Access to Affordable Contraception in Missouri

In response to the latest attack on women’s healthcare and reproductive freedom at the hands of Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri’s Alison Dreith released the following statement:

“Since he took office, Gov. Greitens has made it his priority to play politics with the healthcare that Missouri women and families count on. This latest unnecessary move furthers a fringe, anti-choice agenda and marginalizes those who use birth control as part of their daily health routine,” said NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri executive director, Alison Dreith. “Let’s be clear: Greitens knows exactly what he’s doing. Through wasteful special sessions, medically unnecessary regulations, and his constant soapboxing, Greitens is trying to chip away at every woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions. Access to reproductive healthcare, including birth control, is about basic economic opportunity empowering women to control our bodies and define our own destinies. Yet, rather than focusing on improving the quality of life in our state, Greitens, Josh Hawley, and Republican leaders have used their time in government to push their own personal ideologies on women and families across Missouri.”
