Missouri granted REAL ID extension

WASHINGTON – Missouri state IDs are in the clear for travel next year, as it seems a federal extension has been granted for REAL IDs.

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler announced on Twitter that she “received news that Missouri drivers licenses will be counted as ‘real IDs’ … through Oct 2018,” news much of Missouri has been waiting for after the General Assembly passed a REAL ID bill last year.

Missouri IDs are now in the clear for 11 more months, with eyes turning to the Department of Revenue to begin issuing state IDs compliant with the federal law. DOR previously stated it would take them 18 months to issue REAL ID compliant identification.
