Release: KCP&L Named the Recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Customer Reliability Experience Award

Kansas City, Mo. (Nov. 30, 2017) – Last night, KCP&L was recognized by PA Consulting Group, Inc. as the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Customer Reliability Experience Award. KCP&L was also named as the recipient of the ReliabilityOne™ Award for Outstanding Reliability Performance in the Plains Region.

The Outstanding Customer Reliability Experience Award is presented to a ReliabilityOne™ recipient who has the best overall customer experience as it relates to outage reporting and restoration communications, and has taken steps to engage with their customers by providing real-time access to information across various channels. By embracing these communications channels during both blue-sky and major events they have seized the opportunity to deliver a positive shift in their ability to engage with their customers directly.

“To be recognized for our outstanding customer reliability experience is an incredible achievement,” said Kevin Noblet, KCP&L’s Vice President of Delivery. “Providing safe and reliable power for all of our customers has always been the top priority for our employees. It’s that day-to-day commitment that has led to this recognition.”

Delivering reliable electric service is one of the foundations of KCP&L’s operating strategy. The company constantly monitors the transmission and distribution system so issues can be identified and addressed quickly, which results in fewer outages and reduced response time when outages do occur. Additionally, KCP&L prides itself in keeping its infrastructure both up-to-date and in good condition.

All utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the ReliabilityOne™ Award. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages. After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes an on-site certification process, which provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company’s reliability results.

“As companies strive to deliver the highest level of reliability to US customers, the next generation of utilities must be resilient,” said Gregg Edeson, PA Consulting Group’s ReliabilityOne™ Program Director. “An outstanding example of the utility of the future, KCP&L proved that it is committed to resiliency requirements and grid modernization in the face of probable storm/major event impacts and emerging distributed energy resources.”
