JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Former state representative Jeff Roorda is now able to put the first notch on his belt in his mission to become the next county executive for Jefferson County.
Last week, Roorda received his first endorsement in the race, which came from the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police. The organization, with more than 7,000 members statewide, endorsed him at their trustees’ meeting.
Roorda currently serves as the business manager for the St. Louis Police Officers Association and has been outspoken in advocating for law enforcement following several police-involved killings in the St. Louis area.
Roorda’s entry into the race marks yet another attempt to enter into office. He served in the Missouri House of Representatives for eight years and ran unsuccessfully for a Missouri Senate seat in 2014 and for the Jefferson County Council in 2016.
Roorda is expected to meet up with businessman Dennis Gannon in the general election.
