Busick will seek House District 3 seat in 2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A Sullivan County Commissioner has announced his intent to run for the Missouri House of Representatives’ District 3 seat.

Republican Danny Busick of Newtown will be seeking the Republican nomination to fill the open seat following Rep. Nate Walker’s decision to run for the Senate’s 18th District seat, forgoing a fourth term in the House.

“As a lifelong resident of North Central Missouri I’ve witnessed the constant and continual weakening of the rural economy,” Busick said in a news release announcing his campaign. “Small towns everywhere are disappearing and no one in government seems to be making any effort to curb this trend. The best chance we have to change that in District 3 is the construction of the East Locust Creek Reservoir. Rep. Walker has been a strong supporter of the project and I will continue his efforts to help make this lake a reality.”

Busick has served as an associate commissioner in Sullivan County for over a decade and operated his father’s business, Jim’s Radio & TV, for a quarter of a century. He says he wants to lessen the burden of regulations on small businesses and allow rural businesses to compete with their larger counterparts.

“I will stand firm with small schools, small farms, small communities and county government,” he said. “I am a conservative Republican who is upset with national politicians who run as conservatives and govern as liberals. We must elect conservative individuals who will stand for small government and individual freedoms.”

The primary election will be held on Aug. 7, 2018, and the general election on Nov. 6.
