Missouri Chamber marks 95th anniversary: ‘More relevant than ever’

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry is celebrating its 95th anniversary in 2018. Founded in 1923, the work of the Missouri Chamber has evolved over the decades. However, the organization has always been defined by strong leadership, innovative ideas and an energetic pursuit of positive action to improve our state.

“The fact that the Missouri Chamber has existed for 95 years is a testament to our past and present staff, generations of strong leadership and, most of all, the business members who are the lifeblood of our organization,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber president and CEO. “What we will celebrate most this year is our organization’s continued strength and relevancy. In fact, our work today is more relevant than ever.”

Upon its founding, the Missouri Chamber was originally called The Missouri Association for a Greater Missouri. As the state developed over the last 95 years, the influence of the Missouri Chamber was always present. Read decade-by-decade highlights from our 95th anniversary website.

Today, the Missouri Chamber is the largest statewide business association and has 21 staff members specializing in public advocacy, workforce development, membership services, business programs, seminars, finance and communications. The work of the organization is guided by Missouri 2030, a statewide strategic plan for growth.

“Missouri 2030 has our organization positioned right at the heart of many of the biggest issues facing our state — competing for jobs, preparing our workforce and improving our infrastructure,” said Mehan. “Solutions to big problems like these must come from a united Missouri and that’s why our organization exists. We bring people together for the betterment of Missouri. That’s as important now as it ever has been.”

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the largest business association in Missouri. Together, with the Missouri Chamber Federation, the Missouri Chamber represents more than 75,000 employers. To learn more, go to www.mochamber.com, or follow us @MissouriChamber on Twitter.
