Gregory talks $36M in potential savings on This Week in Missouri Politics

Rep. David Gregory did more than just talk about “waste, fraud and abuse,” he went out and found it.

The Republican representative from St. Louis joins Scott Faughn on This Week in Missouri Politics to talk his audit of the Missouri Department of Revenue and a potential $36 million in savings.

“Not all cuts,” Gregory said. “Some are expense cuts and some are revenue increases by actually increasing employees in certain key areas to make us operate more efficiently.”

He presented his findings to the budget committee this week and talks steps moving forward to actually implementing the plan.

The opinion maker panel jumped right into the other big news of the week: the investigation into Gov. Eric Greitens is moving forward.

“The real understory is that the legislator screwed the pooch here,” said David Barklage. “The legislator by not acting, turned the investigation over out of Republican hands to Democrat hands.”

Investigators were at the Capitol this week, talking to legislative leadership like House Speaker Todd Richardson, Sens. Mike Kehoe and Gina Walsh.

“It’s gone beyond distraction,” according to Rep. Donna Baringer. “It is slowing down our process to do our job.”

Jane Dueker and Rep. Tom Hannegan also join the panel in talking Emery’s utility bill, taxes, the U.S. Senate race and more.

The episode will air Sunday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Louis on ABC 30 and Connections 22 in Springfield and Mid-Missouri. It will air at 10:00 a.m. in Kansas City on 38 the Spot.
