Release: Rep. Bart Korman’s efforts to open up the Outer Continent Shelf

State Representative and professional engineer Bart Korman (R-Warrenton) this week lent his support to an ongoing national effort to open up the Outer Continent Shelf to additional leasing for oil and natural gas exploration. The Bureau of Ocean and Energy Management (BOEM) has opened a docket for public comment and has received over 7,000 comments from supporters who believe that this expansion will continue to ensure America’s global leadership in the production of oil and natural gas.

Rep. Bart Korman

In a statement, Representative Korman said: “President Trump and his administration have recognized the importance of continuing America’s energy revolution while recognizing the economic, social and military benefits that oil and gas leasing opportunities provide to our nation. I support an all-in energy strategy that includes oil, natural gas, solar, coal, nuclear, hydropower, and wind as we continue to ensure a safe and environmentally sound program to meet the needs of Missourians and all Americans. Exploration of the Outer Continental Shelf provides another proven solution to meet our needs and to keep energy costs low.”

Representative Korman’s statement was recently echoed by State Senator Wayne Wallingford, Chairman of Missouri Vets4Energy, who submitted the following comment to BOEM: “I support opening up additional leases for oil and natural gas exploration which will create jobs in America. Having good energy policies will help ensure energy production and strong national security by reducing our reliance on foreign energy resources. As Chairman of Vets4Energy-Missouri, this policy will ultimately help all of the men and women who serve our country in active military service.”
