Republican Justin Brown files to run for the Missouri State Senate District 16

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Rolla native Justin Brown filed to run for the Missouri State Senate District 16. Brown, a Phelps County native, is a soybean, corn and cattle farmer who developed his passion for agriculture while a student on his family farm.  Brown was the president of his local FFA chapter and was a recipient of a state FFA degree. Brown studied at the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) while raising his first of three children with his wife, Laura.

After completing his degree, Justin began a career as a commercial loan officer, specializing in agricultural loans. For the next 13 years, Justin had a successful career in banking while also owning and operating a family farm. Due to his varied professional experience, he has an acute understanding of the challenges facing both the agriculture industry and small business owners.

Currently, Brown farms more than 2,220 acres while also maintaining a cow-calf operation on the family farm. He is an active member of the Missouri Cattleman’s Association and has been a member of the Dent and Phelps County Cattlemen’s Association since 1989. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Beef Council and is the Phelps County Farm Bureau President. As a local farmer, Brown understands the hardships placed on Missouri’s agricultural community by big government and onerous regulations.

“I want the citizens of Camden, Crawford, Dent, Phelps and Pulaski Counties to know I am a staunch conservative that will fight to protect life and ensure your constitutional rights.  I will make it my priority to reduce burdensome regulations and make it easier to conduct business in Missouri.  I work hard from dusk until dawn to ensure my farm is operating at maximum capacity and I will bring that same work ethic to the Missouri Senate. I would be honored to serve the citizens of the 16th District.”

Brown understands the importance of small-business and entrepreneurship in Missouri. “I have first-hand experience of the challenges business owners face on a daily basis and I would prioritize removing barriers to ensure businesses in small communities are able to thrive and grow,” said Brown.

Additionally, Brown is passionate about early childhood education and advocating for students, as his wife Laura is a lifelong educator. Laura taught in local area public schools for 15 years before starting the first Early Childhood Development Center in Rolla. She is currently pursuing a Ph. D. from William Woods University.

Together, Laura and Justin have three children: Tristan, who is studying Plant Science at Missouri State University; Brody, who is a junior in high school; and Kennedy, who is in 5th grade.  The Brown family attends Greentree Christian Church.

In his spare time, Brown has served as a board member and Secretary for his local MFA Cooperative Board of Directors and he was previously active with the Lions Club and the Missouri Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee. Additionally, he helps with the Elk Prairie 4-H Club where he teaches students about livestock management and competing with club calves.

Brown retained Axiom Strategies to consult on his Senate campaign.
