Franklin files for open state state Senate seat

CAMDENTON, Mo. – Diane Franklin filed with the Missouri Secretary of State’s office to seek the Republican nomination to serve the citizens of Missouri’s 16th Senate District as their next State Senator.  The seat, which is currently held by Senator Dan Brown, will be vacated when Brown terms out of the Missouri Senate early next year.

Franklin said, “The 16th Senatorial District has to be one of the most diverse of any in the state.  We have tourism, agriculture, one of the nation’s premier military installations, manufacturing, and beautiful parks, rivers and streams.  Because of my background in many of those areas, I believe I will be able to represent the folks of our district very well.”

Franklin currently serves as the State Representative for Missouri’s 123rd House District and is the Chairman of the House Children and Families Committee; she was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2010.  Representative Franklin is a member of Canopy Church in Camdenton, the National Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Camdenton Kiwanis Club, Sunrise Beach-Laurie Rotary Club, and the Missouri Farm Bureau. She is also a member of the Amateur and Missouri Trap Shooting Association.  Franklin was previously elected twice to serve on the Camdenton RIII School District Board of Education where she was actively involved in the budgetary, curricular and personnel duties, as well as the Lake Career and Technical Center.  She currently resides in Camdenton.

Missouri’s 16th Senate District includes Camden, Crawford, Dent, Phelps, and Pulaski Counties.
