Missouri Care and the City of Chamois announce fire safety program with Community Christian Church

WHAT: Missouri Care, Inc., in partnership with the City of Chamois, the Chamois Fire Department and Community Christian Church is announcing the availability of smoke detectors at no cost to homes in Chamois, Missouri, and surrounding Osage County.

The smoke detectors include a 10-year, non-removable battery and will be installed by the Chamois Fire Department. During installation, fire department personnel will also discuss fire safety, including plans to leave the house, with children and families.

WHY: In February, a Chamois family lost two children in a house fire. According to the National Fire Protection Association, three of every five home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. <

WHEN: Friday, March 16, 11 a.m.

WHERE: Chamois Fire Department, 200 Main Street, Chamois, MO 65024

WHO: Mayor Debbie Huff and Chamois Fire Chief James Mehmert will join Missouri Care president Lou Gianquinto and representatives from the Community Christian Church and Osage County School District for a check presentation and fire safety event.
