NEVADA, Mo. – On Monday, March 26th, 2018, Dominic Habjan announced his candidacy for County Clerk of Vernon County.
“I am running for County Clerk because I believe it is time for a new generation of leadership to step up and move Vernon County forward. I have a passion for public service, and I hope the people will give me the opportunity to serve them with a commitment to making my community better.”
“The County Clerk’s responsibilities are two-fold. The first is to administer elections. Elections are the bedrock of our government and democracy. I would ensure this process is handled with leadership and integrity. Ever since I was a young boy, I have always been intrigued by elections and how they operate. That is why I have taken steps to learn all I can about how the elections process works, including all the laws and regulations that impact the people participating. The second major responsibility of the County Clerk is to be an administrator for the county. This includes aiding in the preparation of the budget and administering the payroll of county employees. I have experience studying and working on governmental administrative procedures. These experiences and knowledge are what I believe make me a great candidate for the position of County Clerk.”
“I have been a lifelong resident of Vernon County, and even as I have been away at college, my heart has remained here. This is the place that helped shape me into the person that I am, and it is the reason why I am determined to do all I can to work for Vernon County.”
“After graduating from Nevada High School, I attended the University of Missouri where I received a bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in Public Policy, in addition to working as a student assistant for Extension. After that, I worked at an online retail firm as a content contributor. I was involved in the entire online retail process; from sales, to working on search engine optimization, and using social media to expand the company brand. While working in the private sector, I realized that my true passion was government and public policy. I returned to school, and I am completing a Masters of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin.”
“In this 21st century economy, it is important that Vernon County citizens have strong leaders working for them.
