Vansickle announces campaign for Macon County Collector

Republican candidate Michele Vansickle has announced her candidacy for Macon County Collector. The Macon County Collector is the elected official responsible for the collection and distribution of current and delinquent taxes for our county. The responsibilities of this position requires an extensive background in accounting procedures and account monitoring. Macon County deserves an experienced and dedicated candidate with the knowledge to manage the county’s Personal Property and Real Estate Tax revenue.

Michele has lived in Macon County over 25 years with her husband, Dean,where she has been the accountant for their trucking business for over 10 years. Prior to that, Michele was the Cost Accountant for Con-Agra Frozen Foods in Macon for 10 years.  Michele has her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Quincy University with an emphasis in accounting.  Michele enjoys working with numbers and thrives on the challenge of accounting for every dollar.

“I know the value of a dollar and how hard citizens must work for the money they use to pay their taxes. I want to be instrumental in accounting for every penny of the taxpayers money” says Michele. “I am excited about the opportunity and anxious to serve the citizens of Macon County as their Collector.”

Michele grew up in Canton, MO and met and married Macon hometown native, Dean Vansickle, in 1990 while both were attending the University of Missouri-Columbia.  After living in Illinois for a short time, in 1992 they decided to make Macon their permanent home and raise their family on the Vansickle Family Farm east of Macon. They have 3 children, Darin graduated from Macon in 2012 and then graduated from Northwest Missouri State University-Maryville with an Ag Business degree, Kayla graduated from Macon in 2014 and is currently a Pharmacy student at University of Missouri-Kansas City and their youngest son, Dalton is a Sophomore at Macon  R-1 where he is very involved in FFA and band.

“I believe that my experience, education, and passion for accounting for the numbers are valuable skills that will benefit the people of Macon County. I look forward to serving the taxpayers of Macon County as their Collector utilizing my dedication and work ethic,” stated Vansickle.
