Missouri Democratic Party issues coupons for Greitens’ birthday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Democratic Party, it seems, wants to wish Republican Gov. Eric Greitens a happy birthday.

In a post issued Tuesday afternoon, the party said that Attorney General Josh Hawley is “making sure Governor Greitens can have his birthday cake and eat it too with a generous gift.”

As such, they put together a coupon, which states that the owner is “entitled to one free sham investigation,” in reference to the criticism that Hawley has received for his office’s investigation into the Governor’s usage of the Confide app.

“Earlier this year, Josh Hawley let Governor Greitens off the hook through a sham investigation into the Governor’s use of Confide — Hawley had the Governor’s back when he did not attempt to retrieve any of the text messages in question, relied heavily on staff testimony, and did not attempt to interview the Governor or challenge the Governor’s assertion of executive privilege.”

“Today is Governor Greitens’ birthday, and the Missouri Democratic Party has an exclusive look at the Governor’s gift from his buddy Josh Hawley! Building on his record of protecting the Governor, Hawley has given Greitens a coupon for yet another sham investigation into the Governor’s misbehavior,” the post reads.

“The two pals have a history of giving each other lavish presents,” it continues, noting that in the 2016 election, Greitens contribute $50,000 to the Hawley campaign. “What will Hawley let Greitens get away with next?”
