Local attorney and Assistant Prosecutor Kristen Burks has announced her candidacy for Macon County Associate Circuit Judge.

“I am very excited for this new opportunity to serve my community,” said Burks, “Throughout my career, my focus has always been working for the public good and for the good of my community. I have worked in multiple areas of the law, from my work in private practice to working as a member of domestic violence units, serving as Assistant Prosecutor in both Jackson and Macon Counties, and as the attorney for the Macon County Juvenile Office. I take to heart the responsibilities that come with each job and always remember that every case has a real impact on the lives of people in this community. I have learned that honesty, integrity and a strong work ethic are the marks of a good judge.”

Burks commented on her qualifications as a judge, “my professional career has given me the skills to protect the rights of Missourians. My experiences in the courtroom have given me a broad understanding of the legal system, and I am ready to serve as Associate Circuit Judge for the people of Macon County.”

Burks and her husband of 21 years, Matt, are the proud parents of 3 children: Sofia (14) and twin siblings Joseph (11) and Stella (11).
