Johnny Reichel begins campaign for Presiding Commissioner of Moniteau County

Reichel Farms owner, Walmart truck driver, and long-time Moniteau County resident Johnny Reichel has announced his campaign for Moniteau County Presiding Commissioner. The Presiding Commissioner is responsible for the business of the county including roads and bridges.

Remarking on his desire to serve his community, Reichel stated “I have always had the desire to follow in my Uncle Arthur Hagemeyer’s footsteps. He served Moniteau County as Presiding Commissioner over forty years ago. It is very important to me to serve and help others, and I want to ensure that our local government works for all of us. I want to maintain the standards set by our present Commission, improve upon their achievements, and always keep an open ear to the county’s constituents.”

Reichel has served many roles during the course of his life. Reichel graduated from California high school in 1967 and soon after went on to serve in the military during the Vietnam War. He operates a Century Farm in McGirk, Missouri which has seen five generations of his family call it home. Reichel has been a truck driver since 1967, logging over 5,000,000 miles total, and 3,000,000 miles with Walmart. He has been a race track announcer at Double-X Speedway located west of California, Missouri, and was even an auctioneer for Winebrenner Auction Service during his nearly 70 years as a Missouri resident.

Reichel and his wife, Linda, will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary this year in August. Together they have raised three children: Dean, married to Cyndi; Julie, married to Jeff Schlup; and Gary, married to Amanda. They have six grandchildren: Cole, Camryn, and Chase Schlup, and Addison, Allison, and Aiden Reichel. All are Moniteau County residents.  Reichel and his family are members of St. Martin Catholic Church where Johnny and Linda serve as ministers of hospitality.

Reichel is a stockholder in the Moniteau County A & M Society, as well as a member of the Moniteau County Farm Bureau, having been involved in agriculture groups since joining FFA in high school. Reichel and his family are members of the Moniteau County Republicans.  As a proud wartime veteran, he is involved in a number of veterans’ organizations, including the American Legion Post 5 in Jefferson City and a lifetime member of VFW Post 4345 located in California, Missouri.

“I have planted my roots deep within this county,” said Reichel, “I was born here, I went to school here, and I raised my family here. I have gotten to know my neighbors and developed close ties to my community. We always need active citizens to get involved in helping one another. I am ready to invest my time for the people of Moniteau County.”

As presiding commissioner, Reichel has promised to remain accountable to the people of Moniteau County and to be receptive to their needs. He highlighted a few of his priorities as presiding commissioner, “we need to focus on maintaining family-oriented values in Moniteau County by supporting local officials, law enforcement, schools, and to have an open line of communication with county residents.”

Reichel stated he enjoys passing along his love of farming to his grandchildren and children of the community by helping them with show cattle and show pigs. Whenever he gets the chance, Reichel loves watching a good baseball or softball game with friends and family, especially games in which his grandchildren are playing.

Reichel has chosen Axiom Strategies to consult on his campaign.
