Rhoads resigns from Missouri House

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Shawn Rhoads has resigned from the Missouri House leaving the majority of Howell County without a representative for the time being. Rhoads had previously announced that he was not running for re-election.

The West Plains Republican was first elected to the House in 2012 and completed six regular sessions as a state representative. By resigning, he will not participate in the upcoming veto session or potential special sessions.

If he so chooses, he would be able to work as a lobbyist in 2019 having completed a six month waiting period between being an elected official and advocating to the government.

Rhoads served on several committees including the Special Investigative Committee on Oversight which looked into the allegations against then-Gov. Eric Greitens. He is a former detective with the West Plains Police Department and was a member of the West Plains R-7 School board.
