Sarah Mills named to RSLC’s “18 in ’18: Races to Watch” list

Kansas City, Missouri (August 3, 2018) – Sarah Mills was highlighted in the Republican State Leadership Committee’s “18 in ’18: Races to Watch” list this week.

The “18 in ’18: Races to Watch” list was released in coordination with the RSLC’s Right Women, Right Now (RWRN) and Future Majority Project (FMP) initiatives which aim to recruit, identify, and support female and diverse Republican candidates at the state level.

The “18 in ’18” list includes new and targeted candidates on the ballot this November, as well as, Republican elected officials who have already achieved electoral success and are in competitive re-election bids.

Sarah Mills released the following quote after being chosen for the list:

“While it is an honor to be recognized at the national level and I am humbled to be included in this outstanding list of candidates, my focus is still squarely on the Northland. The concerns of my neighbors are what really motivate me to win in November.“

RSLC President Matt Walter released this quote in the announcement of the list:

“Since 2011, the FMP and RWRN initiatives have proved tremendously successful in building up the next generation of Republican state leaders. Together, these programs have helped to elect over 100 new candidates from diverse backgrounds and over 500 new women to state-level offices. The first round of candidates identified on our “18 in ’18: Races to Watch” list embody the future leaders we will wholeheartedly support through the FMP and RWRN initiatives. We have had enormous success with candidates we have already elected to office this year and we look forward to the success of the remainder of these candidates come November.”

About FMP
The Republican State Leadership Committee’s (RSLC) Future Majority Project (FMP) seeks to identify, recruit, train and support candidates who better reflect the full diversity of our nation. Launched in 2011, FMP supports men and women from diverse communities as they run to grow the economy, support job creators and focus on ways to keep more money in the pockets of working families. In 2015-2016, FMP invested $7 million – in partnership with the RSLC’s Right Women, Right Now (RWRN) – to identify and recruit 174 new, diverse candidates in 36 states. Through these efforts, FMP and RWRN saw 22 new candidates of diverse ethnicity elected, as well as 165 new women. Since its founding in 2011, the RSLC has with an over $20 million investment helped elect over 500 women and over 100 diverse candidates.

About RWRN
The Republican State Leadership Committee’s (RSLC) Right Women, Right Now (RWRN) initiative serves to identify, recruit and support women candidates nationwide in order to help elect more Republican leaders who better embody the electorate of our country, where women are 53 percent of the voters. RWRN offers candidate trainings, mentorship matchings and digital organizing tools for our candidates’ campaigns for state-level office. Since its founding in 2012, RWRN has recruited hundreds of women candidates, elected 500 new women to office and continues working to grow the largest caucus of Republican elected women in the country.
