Pro-life, pro-choice candidates celebrate primary victories

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Voters in Tuesday’s Missouri Primary Election took the opportunity to show their support for the pro-life or pro-choice candidates across the state.

Thirty-eight candidates from NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri’s 2018 Primary Ballot Guide won their races on Tuesday.

“Today’s election results prove what we’ve been saying all along: Missouri voters want to send pro-choice champions to Jefferson City,” said Alison Dreith, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Executive Director, on Election Night. “Our endorsed candidates fought incredibly hard to represent their districts and kept reproductive freedom at the forefront of their platforms. We could not be more proud of the hard work everyone put into their campaigns and we’re looking forward to keeping the momentum going into November.”

NARAL says those wins reaffirm that despite the Missouri Democratic Party lowering their priority on reproductive rights, Missourians want representatives who will stand up for reproductive freedom.

MRL PAC endorsed candidates in a total of 145 races statewide. Of those races, MRL PAC endorsed the winning candidate in 138 of those contests, a success rate go 95 percent in all races in which that MRL was involved in, and not a single incumbent endorsed by MRL lost their seat.

“MRL PAC extends our congratulations to all those who stood for life in their campaigns,” Steve Rupp, President of Missouri Right to Life, said. “Missouri has one of the largest pro-life legislative majorities in the nation and MRL PAC is proud to be a part of that. Pro-life voters will look to elect those in November who will fight valiantly for life in Missouri and Washington. Let us pray and work as we encourage the continued successful efforts for life across our state and nation.”
