This Week in the Missouri PSC: Sept. 5, 2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The latest meeting of the Missouri Public Service Commission took little time to decide on three orders, especially since Chairman Daniel Hall was the only member not attending via phone on Wednesday.

That did nothing to hamper the PSC’s agenda, as the commission signed off on three orders with unanimous consent.

The first order dealt with the stipulation and agreement in Summit Natural Gas’ case and their application requesting a variance from the requirement that gas service meters be removed, inspected and tested at least every 120 months, as well as requested a waiver of the 60-day notice requirement.

It passed with a 5-0 vote.

The next item before the commission concerned Spire Missouri’s AAO for assessment of 2019 fiscal year, and the setting of a procedural schedule in that case.

The commissioners voted to adopt a procedural schedule to resolve that application, with a hearing set for Dec. 11, 2019.

The last item of the day concerned telecom rules that had been reviewed as part of an executive order asking all agencies to review their rules and regulations to remove outdated or burdensome red tape.

Hall said that the most contentious issue in this matter had concerned whether to allow existing high cost to support broadband, which in the end, they did not make that decision.

The commission approved the final order of rulemaking in that regard, approving the decision to rescind Chapter 27, moving some to Chapter 28, and moving some of Chapter 31 to 28 as well, while also reworking provisions in 28.

It also received a unanimous vote.
