Trump plans third campaign event for Hawley in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — President Donald Trump will be in the Show-Me State next week to urges voters to oust incumbent-U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill.

The rally on behalf of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Josh Hawley will be held at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on September 13 at 7 p.m. This will mark the third campaign event Trump has held in Missouri for Hawley, having held rallies in Kansas City and St. Louis.

Trump’s campaign said in a news release that he will use the rally as an opportunity to urge Missourians to replace McCaskill with Hawley and to help protect the GOP majorities in Congress.

McCaskill is among 10 Senate Democrats up for re-election this year in states where Trump won — he won Missouri by nearly 20 percentage points in 2016. McCaskill is considered among the most vulnerable incumbents and is a target for Republicans seeking to expand their 51-49 majority in the U.S. Senate.

The president is also expected to discuss the latest indicators of the “booming Trump economy,” his plans to secure the U.S. border, and U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanagh’s confirmation hearings.
